While Love Is Blind has become a cultural phenomenon built on emotional twists and romantic chaos, it turns out that some of the drama might not be limited to the contestants. At the centre of it all are hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey. Now, Nick and Vanessa aren’t ever really in anyone’s good books because, well, let’s face it, people are always vouching for another couple to become hosts. While some savage viewers suggest they “bring nothing to the show,” it turns out they actually have a kinda messy love story of their own behind-the-scenes…
How Nick and Vanessa Lachey met
Both Nick and Vanessa Lachey were in relationships when they met.
Throwing it back to the early 2000s, their paths first crossed on the set of MTV’s Total Request Live.
Nick was a member of the boy band 98 Degrees, and Vanessa was the show’s host and a former Miss Teen USA winner.
In 2003, Nick was still married to Jessica Simpson, and Vanessa was dating baseball star Derek Jeter, per Nicki Swift.
The couple’s love story was anything but straightforward. After meeting Vanessa, Nick still had a divorce to endure.
Nick and Jessica had been married for three years before they announced their separation in 2005.
But once the divorce was all finalised, Nick invited Vanessa to star in the music video for his song What’s Left of Me in 2006, and their chemistry quickly blossomed into something more.
The two went public with their relationship that year and were later spotted ringing in the New Year with a kiss on December 31st.
Now, they’re the poster couple for Love Is Blind
After being together for four years, Nick proposed to Vanessa.
The two tied the knot in 2011 at Sir Richard Branson’s private Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.
Nick and Vanessa share three children together, Camden, 12, Brooklyn, 10, and Phoenix, 8.
Speaking to People about whether their kids know they have famous parents, Nick explained:
“It’s funny, they don’t care about 98 Degrees, they don’t care about any of that stuff. But when I did The Masked Singer, that was the moment that Dad became cool with the kids… It took dressing up like a pig and singing on national television to be cool to my kids. Whatever it takes.”
They now host Netflix shows The Ultimatum and Love Is Blind as a duo!
